PERRY, N.Y. – The Saint Anselm College men’s lacrosse team was ranked 20th in the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association/Nike Lacrosse Division II Preseason Coaches’ Poll released on Tuesday.
Saint Anselm begins the season ranked in the USILA/Nike poll for the first time in program history, earning the 20th spot on the poll. The Hawks are joined by fellow Northeast-10 Conference members Merrimack (second), Le Moyne (third), Adelphi (fourth) and Pace (fifth).
The Hawks were recently ranked 17th nationally by US Lacrosse/Nike in their preseason polling after recording an 8-6 record last season. Saint Anselm earned their second-straight NE10 postseason berth and racked up seven wins against league opponents, equaling its best total in team history.
Saint Anselm also defeated two top-20 programs last season, swamping No. 16 Southern New Hampshire by a 19-9 margin before edging No. 20 Bentley in double overtime, 14-13, on the road. The Hawks also lost by one goal to No. 3 Adelphi and dropped a three-goal contest to No. 2 Le Moyne near the midpoint of the season.
Head Coach Mike Sciamanna enters his third season with the program in 2018 after posting matching 8-6 records in his first two seasons with the Hawks.
