MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Saint Anselm College men’s lacrosse team was recently ranked 17th in the nation, according to the Nike/US Lacrosse Division II Men’s Preseason Top 20 Poll released on Thursday, Jan. 11.
The Hawks posted an 8-6 record last season, earning their second-straight Northeast-10 Conference postseason berth. With seven wins in NE10 play, Saint Anselm equaled its best mark in program history and defeated two top 20 programs in Southern New Hampshire and Bentley.
“We are excited to be ranked in the US Lacrosse preseason poll, but preseason rankings are typically based on what you did the year before,” remarked Head Coach Mike Sciamanna. “The 2018 team will quickly get the opportunity to show where we stand nationally with three of our first four opponents ranked in the top 20.”
Saint Anselm finished last season ranked 15th in NCAA Division II by the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association. US Lacrosse Magazine ranked the Hawks 17th nationally to conclude the 2017 season.
“This announcement shows that the hard work our men have put in over the past two seasons is starting to pay off. We have set a high standard over the past two years and this year’s team will be looking to make program history,” concluded Sciamanna, who is entering his third season at the helm of the Hawks.
The full schedule for the upcoming 2018 season will be released in the coming weeks.
