If you are a Boston Cannon fan the Will Manny, Joe Locascio trade to the NY Lizards for Dave Lawson and Chris LaPierre going to the Boston Cannons was a pretty big shock on trade deadline day.
My first reaction to the Manny trade was surprise. The second thought was Manny must have wanted to force a trade to play at home in Long Island. But from seeing his social media and listening to a couple of podcast interviews he certainly seemed to be surprised as well. Didn’t think it was a great trade for the Cannons. Manny was an excellent player and was the face of the team. Currently Manny sits 5th in points in the MLL on 23G and 12A.
Then seeing Manny and LoCascio have amazing debuts was great to see in a 15-14 Lizard over the Ohio Machine.
Manny had 5G and LoCascio who hit the game winning 2pt goal chipped in with 3G, 1A and the 2 pointer. Surely Cannons management was dining on some humble pie!

But, let’s not underestimate Dave Lawson. He brings quite a resume to the Cannons. All American and National Champ from Duke, Team USA etc. To me with the edition of Joe Walters he didn’t seem to fit in with the new look Lizard midfield in 2017. As someone who roots for the Cannons I certainly hope Dave Lawson is the answer to help them win some of these close games they have been losing and qualify for the postseason.
Chris LaPierre brings something the Cannons really seem to hold in high regard, athleticism in the midfield. When the Cannons made the playoffs a couple of years ago this was their identity, mids that can play defense and thrive in transition.
Early returns are clearly in favor of New York, I don’t see that changing. I hope I am wrong.
