Providence, R.I. – Senior Tewaaraton Award winner Dylan Molloy (Setauket, NY) and freshman attackman Jack Kniffin (Darien, CT) were selected the Ivy League Player of the Week and Ivy Rookie of the Week, respectively, after leading Brown to a 25-9 season-opening win over Quinnipiac.
Molloy, USILA Outstanding Player and Attackman of the Year, picked-up where he left off a year ago when he led the nation in scoring. Molloy got on the scoreboard early and often, assisting on Brown’s first goal and scoring the Bears’ second goal of the game. Overall, he netted four goals and handed out four assists for eight points against the Bobcats and sat out the final 18 minutes with the game no longer in doubt.
The biggest question mark for the Bears’ offense was who would join Molloy on attack. The question was quickly answered. Kniffin left little doubt, scoring three of Brown’s first five goals to help the Bears build a 5-1 first quarter advantage. Making his collegiate debut, he scored six goals and added an assist in a starting role, displaying a quick shot and the ability to dodge.
Brown is back in action again on Saturday, February 25, hosting Stony Brook at Stevenson-Pincince Field, starting at 1:00 pm.
