Brown University Men’s Lacrosse Drafts Twelve-Year-Old Boy Through Team IMPACT

On Wednesday, December 7, Brown University and Team IMPACT will hold an official Draft Day press conference for twelve-year-old Nicholas Cioe of Cranston, who was diagnosed with mitochondrial disease, a chronic, genetic disorder, at birth.

Through Team IMPACT, a nonprofit based in Boston whose mission is to improve the quality of life for children facing life-threatening and chronic illnesses through the power of team, Nicholas will become a member of the Brown men’s lacrosse team, attending practices, games, and events.

Since its inception in 2011, Team IMPACT has matched 1,000+ children to over 450 colleges and universities throughout the country. The child gains great strength, camaraderie and support and the student athletes are taught lessons about courage, resiliency and life perspective that they can’t learn in a classroom.
