Maverik Lacrosse Max Speedpad Review

As part of Maverik Lacrosse’s new line of Max protective gear they have released a new shoulder pad. The new shoulder pad is the Max Speedpad. The tagline from their website about the Max Speedpad says, “provides players with lightweight, comfortable, and protective shoulder coverage.” After playing with the the Max Speedpad a few times, I can agree with those statements.

The features of the Maverik Lacrosse Max Speedpad are a traditional fit, an adjustable COMFORTFIT arch, Durastretch panels, Anaform and a 37.5 liner. The traditional fit provides comfort and mobility. The adjustable COMFORTFIT arch allows you to personalize fit, coverage and drape. The COMFORTFIT arch is great, it allows you to adjust the way the Speedpad fits on your shoulder as well as how far down your chest the front of the Speedpad falls. The Durastretch panels allow the pads to move with the body seamlessly. The Anaform is something we have seen throughout the Max line of protective gear. It once again provides slash protection and maintains its flexibility. The Anaform is on the center of the chest and the spine in the Speedpad. The 37.5 liner keeps the body cool and allows for faster evaporation of sweat.

Being an older lacrosse player, who in college wore football shock absorber shoulder pads with plastic caps on the them, these Max Speedpads are awesome. They are lightweight and give great protection. At times I felt like I wasn’t wearing shoulder pads at all, until I got slashed and was then thankful for the Max Speedpads. Overall the Maverik Lacrosse Max Speedpad are a great design, provide excellent protection and are lightweight. We would recommend these for midfielders and defensemen. If you are looking for new shoulder pads for the 2017 lacrosse season, add these to your Christmas list.
