LOWELL, Mass. — UMass Lowell Men’s Lacrosse Head Coach Ed Stephenson announced the River Hawks’ schedule for the upcoming 2017 season on Thursday afternoon.
The River Hawks will play eight home games at Cushing Field Complex this season, which includes a four-game homestand to start the season. UMass Lowell officially opens its season on Saturday, February 11th against Boston University.
“I am really excited about the direction of our program and our 2017 schedule,” said Stephenson. “I love the addition of Harvard and UMass-Amherst as both programs are perennial national contenders and both are from the Commonwealth. We have also added Monmouth University which began their Division I program just one year prior to us.”
The River Hawks will play 10 non-league games in 2017, which includes a matchup intrastate rival Massachusetts on Tuesday, March 14th in Amherst, Mass. and a February 18th matchup with Ivy League foe Harvard at Cushing Field Complex.
“We have a challenging non-conference schedule which features teams from five different conferences, Ivy League, Big East, CAA, MAAC, and the Patriot League'” stated Stephenson. “The second half of the season features primarily our America East Conference foes, and we’re thrilled about the challenge. I expect the conference to be very competitive as each year brings more parity.”
UMass Lowell will open America East play on March 18th against Binghamton at Cushing Field Complex. The River Hawks will conclude their third Division I season with a non-conference game on April 29th at NJIT.
