Justin Turri Resigns for 2017 with the Boston Cannons

QUINCY, M.A.  – The Boston Cannons of Major League Lacrosse, the premier outdoor professional lacrosse league, announced today that midfielder Justin Turri has signed a contract extension to remain with the Cannons for the 2017 season.

Turri is the fourth Boston Cannon to sign a contract to remain with the team for the 2017 season.  All four players (Turri, Max Seibald, Tyler Fiorito and Mitch Belisle) were eligible for the MLL’s new Player Movement policy but chose to re-sign with the Cannons.

Turri was acquired by the Cannons in January in a trade with the Atlanta Blaze.  In his first season in Boston, Turri scored 17 goals, including a career high three 2-pointers.  He collected a career high 13 ground balls and tallied two or more points in 10 of the 11 games he played in this season.

“I first want to thank everyone for the opportunity to continue my playing career with the best organization in the MLL – team owner Mr. Rob Hale, team President Mr. Ian Frenette, and especially our GM Kevin Barney, Head Coach Sean Quirk, and the rest of the Cannons coaching staff for welcoming me into the organization the way that they did this past year, said midfielder Justin Turri.

“To play in front of the best fans in the league in the city of Boston is a privilege, and I’m looking forward to suiting up in the red, white, and blue again next season!  We all left 2016 with a sour taste in our mouth, but with our strong finish to the season, core group of players returning, and commitment from the entire organization to do what it takes to win the championship, I believe 2017 could be a special season for our franchise.”
