Kearney and Treat Named Post Men’s Lacrosse Captains

WATERBURY, Conn. – Junior long-stick midfielder Jack Kearney (Sandy Hook, Conn.) and senior midfielder Colby Treat (Penn Yan, N.Y.) were named team captains for the 2016 Post University men’s lacrosse team.

“Colby and Jack were unanimously voted as captains by their teammates. Being a new coach here, it is very comforting to know that we have two guys leading this group that everyone looks up to.  I am confident in both of their abilities both on and off the field. Their leadership will help this program to keep moving forward in the right direction,” said first-year head coach Derek Marks.

Kearney returns for his third season and is the only current member of the team to play all 29 games over the past two years. He was named Second Team All-New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (NEILA) in his freshman year and was second on the team with 34 ground balls and 13 caused turnovers last year.

Treat was second on the squad with 31 points last year, his first with the team. He scored 19 goals to go with a team-high 12 assists. Treat also grabbed 34 ground balls in 2015.

Post opens its season on Saturday afternoon against Pace. Opening face-off is set for 1 p.m.
