WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross men’s lacrosse program has announced that senior goalie Michael Ortlieb (Newport Beach, Calif.) and senior attacker Sean Wilkinson (Ridgefield, Conn.) will serve as captains for the 2016 season.
Ortlieb enters the season with 13 career wins, which are third most in school history. He ranks eighth all-time in school history with 389 career saves. Last season, Ortlieb started in all 13 games and was ranked fourth in the Patriot League in saves per game with 9.46. In his sophomore year, Ortlieb started in all 15 games and had a career-best 139 saves. Over his career with the Crusaders he has played in 39 total games. He has recorded 99 ground balls and 11 caused turnovers.
Wilkinson, who was just recently named to the 2016 Preseason All-Patriot League team, started in all 13 games last season as he led the team with 40 points and 20 assists as well as tallying 20 goals which was the third most on the team. He earned second team All-Patriot League honors and was selected to the Academic All-Patriot League team. In his sophomore year, Wilkinson started in all 15 games and led the team with 22 assists and 43 points, while he was tied for second with 21 goals, which were all career best marks. He has played in 37 career games and has recorded 42 goals, 42 assists, 84 points, and 54 ground balls.
The Crusaders begin their season on February 13 as they face Providence in Providence, R.I. at 1:00 p.m.
