Fairfield University’s Tristan Sperry Wins CAA Scholar-Athlete Award for Men’s Lacrosse

Class of 2015 graduate was a First Team All-CAA performer and a USILA Scholar All-American

RICHMOND, Va. – Fairfield University Class of 2015 graduate Tristan Sperry (Saratoga Springs, N.Y. / Saratoga Springs HS) has earned the Colonial Athletic Association Scholar-Athlete Award for men’s lacrosse, as announced today by the CAA office. Sperry was a team captain for the Stags this spring as the squad won the CAA regular season championship.

The CAA presents one Scholar-Athlete Award for each of its 21 championship sports. All nominees must be a starter or key reserve with a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.25. Fairfield men’s lacrosse joined the CAA as an associate member beginning in the 2015 season.

Sperry has previously been lauded for his work in the classroom this spring with USILA Scholar All-America and NEILA All-Academic recognition. He graduated from the University last month as a double major in Finance and Marketing within Fairfield’s Charles F. Dolan School of Business.

On the field, Sperry racked up a team-leading 47 points in 2015. He scored 23 goals and handed out a team-high 24 assists en route to First Team All-CAA and Second Team All-NEILA laurels. He was invited this summer to play in both the USILA North-South and NEILA East-West All-Star Games.

Sperry was the only Stag to score a point in every game this past spring, ending his career with an active scoring streak of 16 games dating back to the 2014 ECAC Championship Game. The senior attackman posted four points in the CAA Championship Semifinals to earn All-Championship honors. In the career record books, Sperry graduated Fairfield ranked ninth in points (128), 10th in goals (74) and seventh in assists (54) in program history.
