Blazers’ 2nd-Half Blitz Overtakes BullsEye

Goalie Mike Vergano garners Marc Mesh Player of the Week honors

Down 8-4 less than a minute into the second half, the Blazers scored the game’s next seven goals and shut the door on BullsEye, taking home an 11-9 win and a commanding lead in the winter session of the Boston Box Lacrosse League.

Marty Bowes led the Blazers with four goals and three assists with Brandon Dube adding four goals of his own. Randy Fraser and Garrett Naimie both added a goal and an assist in the victory, but it was substitute goalie Mike Vergano – earning his second straight win stepping in for Joe Evans – who earned Marc Mesh Player of the Week honors, making 31 saves on the night, including a scoreless run of more than 22 minutes in the second half that allowed the Blazers to turn the game around.
