UMass Minutemen’s Izzo Picked By Ohio Machine In Major League Lacrosse Draft

Redshirt-senior defensive midfielder becomes 26th Minutemen selected in MLL history

BALTIMORE – Major League Lacrosse’s Ohio Machine franchise selected UMass redshirt-senior short-stick defensive midfielder Ryan Izzo with the 27th pick in the 2015 MLL Draft, held Friday night in Baltimore, Md. Izzo, a USILA All-America selection after the 2014 season, enters his final season as a co-captain of the Minutemen with 83 career groundballs, 22 caused turnovers and 10 points via seven goals and three assists.

Izzo was picked in the fourth round by Ohio with the organization’s second selection of the evening. He is the 26th Minuteman drafted into MLL all-time and first since Will Manny, Jake Smith and Colin Fleming were chosen during the 2013 edition of the event.

Massachusetts begins the 2015 season at home on Garber Field with a Saturday, Feb. 7 contest at 1 p.m.
