New England’s only men’s box league has 2 holiday weeks of open play
The Boston Box Lacrosse League will hold two weeks of pick-up lacrosse on consecutive Tuesdays, December 23 and 30, at the South Shore Sports Center in Hingham, Mass.. The evenings run from 7 – 8:30 p.m.; cost is $20 per player.
Holiday open play is a BBLL tradition, allowing Boston-area adults to get a taste of what the BBLL is all about, while also giving college players a chance to get a good holiday workout. The holiday sessions tend to run the full 90 minutes, with a brief warm-up leading to an extended game. The BBLL provides jerseys for all players.
Play is limited to adults, so all players must be over the age of 18.
“This is a really good chance for guys to come experience box, whether it’s that they want to see what the buzz is about, decide if they want to play when they come home in the summer or – if they’re an adult living in the Boston area – introduce themselves to the league’s team captains in the hope of getting a roster spot in our winter session,” said Randy Fraser, the league’s founder and the former assistant coach/general manager for the Boston Blazers. “It’s a no-pressure way to experience box and no matter why you are there, you’re going to get a great run.”
