MegaMen Regain 1st place; Blazers Now Tied For 2nd

Brandon Dube’s 7-point night earns Marc Mesh Player of the Week honors

The MegaMen raced out to an 8-3 halftime lead and then held off a valiant effort from BullsEye before salting the game away with a few late goals to claim a 12-8 win and first place after five weeks of Boston Box Lacrosse League action. In the October 28 nightcap, the Blazers steadily built a lead and controlled tempo throughout to knock out PrimeTime by a count of 17-6.

In the battle for the league lead, the MegaMen got three goals from both Bryan Bendig and Biran Krol, with Dan Hettler and Bobby Dabrieo adding two scores apiece. Beau Wood and Mark Goodrich both had four-point nights to lead BullsEye. Daley Baker led the MegaMen with 10 loose balls, while goalie Chris Hettler shut the door down the stretch and finished with 23 saves; BullsEye goalie Chuck Jaffe made 31 saves to keep his team close.

In the nightcap, Brandon Dube earned Marc Mesh Player of the Week honors by scoring three goals and four assists, while adding five loose balls and a caused turnover. Marty Bowes’ 5 goals and one assistmade him an MVP contender, while Kurt Hunziker netted a hat trick. Garrett Naimie and Nick Coppola both registered three points, while goalie Joe Evans stopped 20 shots on the night. Mike Stone and Jason Wellemeyer both registered three points for PrimeTime.

In action on November 4, the Blazers and BullsEye will have their first rematch, with BullsEye having defeated the Blazers 8-5 in their first meeting; the winner will finish the night in no worse than a tie for second. In the 10 p.m. game, PrimeTime plays the MegaMen.
