BURLINGTON, Vt. – The University of Vermont men’s lacrosse team unveiled its 15-game schedule for the 2015 season today. The Catamounts will host five home games at Virtue Field, including three matchups against America East opponents.
UVM opens the season on February 7 with a contest at Penn State, before returning to Burlington for their home opener against Colgate on February 14. Vermont wraps up the month with a tilt at Providence (Feb. 21), and a home game against Boston University (Feb. 28).
Beginning on March 3, UVM plays six consecutive games away from home. The streak is highlighted by a matchup with Air Force on March 7 in Washington, D.C., and a tilt at Georgetown on March 10. Air Force finished last season ranked 17th in the USILA Coaches’ Poll and lost to eventual NCAA Champion Duke in the tournament.
The Catamounts open conference play at home against Stony Brook on March 28, and remain in Burlington to take on Albany the following weekend (April 4). Albany won the America East title last season and advanced to the NCAA Quarterfinals.
Vermont travels to face UMBC on April 11, before hosting Hartford on Senior Day (April 18) in the Catamounts’ final home contest of the year. The following weekend, UVM plays at Binghamton (April 25) in the regular season finale.
The top four teams in the regular season standings will advance to the America East Tournament, which will take place on April 30 (semifinals) and May 2 (championship) at the home of the highest seed.
Vermont, which finished 5-8 overall last season, returns eight of its top 10 scorers, including reigning America East Rookie of the Year, Ian MacKay.
