Post Men’s Lacrosse Defeated By Chestnut Hill

LAFAYETTE HILL, Pa. – The Post University men’s lacrosse team fell at Chestnut Hill, 20-6, on Wednesday night in Lafayette Hill, Pa. The Eagles are now 3-10 on the year with two games remaining.

Freshman Kyle Shannon (Stanhope, N.J.) scored three goals and dished out an assist. He leads the team with 29 goals on the year. Freshman Alex Brownlee (Syracuse, N.Y.) scored twice and picked up three ground balls. Junior Brian Beatson (Fairfax, Va.) also added a goal.

The Eagles were held scoreless in the first quarter as the Griffins took a 4-0 lead. Freshman Tim Wright (Waterloo, N.Y.) picked up a ground ball of the opening faceoff of the second quarter and found Shannon for Post’s first goal. Wright finished with two assists on the night.

With 3:52 remaining in the first half and the Eagles with a man advantage, Brownlee beat the keeper for his first goal of the game. Post scored three times with an extra man. The Eagles trailed 10-2 at the break.

Freshman Andrew D’Angelo (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) forced a Chestnut Hill turnover early in the third quarter and cleared the ball back to the Eagles’ offensive zone. Brownlee scored his second of the game later in the possession. Shannon and Beatson would each score in the quarter to make the score 16-5 through three.

Shannon scored his third of the night with 2:49 left in the game off a pass from junior Andrew Supanich (Jackson, Va.).

Post was 3-5 on extra-man opportunities in the game. Brownlee led the Eagles with eight shots on the day. Freshman Jack Kearney (Sandy Hook, Conn.) had four caused turnovers.

The Eagles are back in action on Saturday, April 19 on the road against Alderson Broaddus. Faceoff is set for 1 p.m.
