New England D3 Report: Week 7
Williams takes out Tufts,
Williams finally slowed down the Tufts freight train in NESCAC play last week by taking out the Jumbos 15-8 in a game played at Keene NH. It was the first time this season Tufts failed to score 20 plus in a NESCAC game. Williams couldn’t build on their momentum as they fell 8-7 to Wesleyan on the weekend.
Big games upcoming
Tuesday: Endicott at Tufts, This is a battle of number one versus number two in our rankings. Can The Gulls slow down the high flying Jumbo offense as Williams and Stevenson did? Endicott has an athletic defense and are solid at the faceoff x with Freshman Tommy Hughes who is at a robust 64% with 113 GB’s on the year. The Gulls won last year’s matchup, but that was at “The Nest” in Beverly. I think Wood, Uppgren, Bailey and Co. will come up on top.
Tuesday: Western New England at Roger Williams, How good is RW? They stand at 10-2 while WNE has had a rough season against one of the toughest OOC schedules in the country stands at 5-6. Hawk FO man Alan Williams has been lights out in recent games and may hold the key. John Nessa and Will Seifert will need to shoot well too.
The Golden Bears started out 1-6, but have won four in a row in the CCC, scoring 72 goals in the process. Adam Knapton has missed some time this year but still leads the offense with 31 points. I see the Bears coming away with a close one.
Saturday: Amherst at Tufts, The Lord Jeff’s start the week 8-2 with a midweek game at Conn College. The Jumbos will be coming off their Endicott game. This game will be huge for NESCAC playoff seedings.
1st Star: Will Wise Bowdoin, The attackman scored 3 goals on 4 shots, also dished 3 assists in a come from behind win vs. Conn College. Also shot 1/1 with an assist in a win over Bates.
2nd Star: Quinn Maroney Amherst, Scored 5 goals on 9 shots and dished out 8 assists in Lord Jeff wins over Colby and Wesleyan.
3rd Star: Steve Keisel Williams, Scored 4g on 7 shots in upset win over Tufts. Followed that up with shot 1 for 4 and handed out 2 assists in the loss over Wesleyan.
