The Regis College Pride finished the 2013 season with a 4-11 record, which included a 1-2 record in New England Collegiate Conference play. Last spring was the first season for men’s lacrosse to be sponsored by the NECC. The Pride lost their final game last spring versus Massachusetts Maritime 7-11. This marks the third season for Josh Blumental as head coach of the Regis Pride. The expectations are high this season for the Pride. According to coach Blumental, “this is the largest roster and most depth in the five-year history of the program, we are looking forward to advancing our program in and around the New England area.”

Leading the Regis Pride this spring will be some young guns on the offensive side of the ball. Those offensive players are Nicky Rodrigo, Jack O’Brien and Billy Stewart. Rodrigo, a sophomore attack scored 28 goals and had 21 assists last spring. He was also a 1st team All-NECC selection in 2013. O’Brien a sophomore midfielder scored 9 goals and had 2 assists, while scooping up 109 groundballs and winning a 158 out of 235 faceoff’s in 2013. He was a 1st team All-NECC selection last spring. Stewart a senior midfielder scored 14 goals and dished out 8 assists last spring. He was an honorable mention All-NECC selection in 2013. Holding down the defensive end of the field will be captain Brian Cidado. He is senior defenseman who had 10 groundballs and 9 caused turnovers last spring.

In the New England Collegiate Conference this spring a favorite has to be Mitchell College. They are reigned champs in the NECC. According to coach Blumental, they return the majority of their team, including Demetre Lyras who was the NECC MVP in 2013. A dark-horse this spring in the NECC could be Becker. They were one win away from winning the inaugural NECC championship last spring. A player in the NECC we will keep an eye on this spring is Demetre Lyras from Mitchell College. He is a midfielder who takes faceoff’s and he finished last spring with 26 goals, 7 assists and a 76 % faceoff win percentage.
