New England College Pilgrims
The New England College Pilgrims finished the 2013 season with a 10-7 record, including 7-1 in North Atlantic Conference play. The Pilgrims lost their final game of the spring, at the hands of Castleton State in the NAC Championship 5-17. According to first year head coach Jedd Brown, the expectations are high in 2014. He went on to say, “our returners are very focused on trying to return to the conference post-season and competing for a championship.” Coach Brown comes over from UNE where he was an assistant coach the past six seasons.
Looking to lead the Pilgrims in 2014 will be captains Pat Miles, and Matt Hebert. Miles a senior LSM was a 1st team All-NAC selection last spring. He finished 2013 with 12 goals, 26 assists, 90 groundballs and 39 caused turnovers. Hebert a senior defenseman, was a 1st team All-NAC selection in 2013. He scooped up 36 groundballs and had 22 caused turnovers last spring.
A favorite in the North Atlantic Conference in 2013 looks like Castleton State. The Spartans are the defending NAC champions. A dark-horse this spring in the NAC looks like Husson. According to coach Brown, “they (Husson) always hustle and compete.” A player in the NAC we are going to keep an eye on this spring is NEC’s Pat Miles. Miles is a LSM but he puts up amazing offensive numbers.
