Lasell College Lasers

The Lasell College Lasers finished 2013 with an 8-8 record and a 7-2 record in Great Northeast play. Their 2013 season ended in the quarterfinals of the GNAC tournament, they lost to Becker 8-12. Heading into 2014 the Lasers are looking to complete for a league championship. They are looking to regain their form from 2012 when they went undefeated in GNAC play. Head Coach Tim Dunton will be entering his 12th season on the sidelines for the Lasers in 2014.

Leading Lasell College in 2014 will be Dylan Fernandes. Fernandes is junior midfield who was a 1st team All-GNAC selection in 2013. He also scored 32 goals and had 9 assists last spring. Helping Fernandes on the offensive side will be fellow attack Andy Puopolo. Puopolo a junior was a 1st team All-GNAC selection in 2013 as well, and he scored 37 goals and dished out 19 assists. Defensively the Lasers will be lead by junior defensemen Eric Marcantonio. Marcantonio was a 2nd team All-GNAC selection last spring. He scooped up 28 groundballs and had 15 caused turnovers while scoring 1 goal and dishing out 1 assist.

The favorite in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference this spring is Norwich according to coach Dunton. He went on to say, “they (Norwich) are returning a lot of talent and are the defending league champs.” A dark-horse this spring in the GNAC could be Emmanuel. They made the GNAC semi’s in only their 2nd season. Coach Dunton believes they will be a strong team this spring, because they have built a very competitive team. A player in the GNAC this spring that we will keep an eye on is Ian Mendoza from Norwich. Mendoza is an attack and the offensive leader for the Cadets. According to Coach Dunton, “he (Mendoza) is a match up problem for most teams.”
