The AIC Yellow Jackets finished the 2013 campaign with a 1-14 record, including an 0-11 record in Northeast-10 play. Heading into 2014 the goal of the Yellow Jackets is to be able to play four quarters according to head coach Shannon Sligo. Sligo is entering his eighth year as head coach of the Yellow Jackets. He also went on to to say, “we are still young but have been gaining experience.” They are hoping to utilize their strong leadership and a sense of purpose and direction to go .500 in 2014.

Leading the AIC Yellow Jackets in 2014 will be Dan Gryszko and Bobby Spano. Gryszko is a senior defensemen who was a 2nd team Northeast-10 selection last spring. He had scooped up 52 groundballs and had 25 caused turnovers to go along with 5 goals and 2 assists. Spano is a junior attack who scored 25 goals and had 3 assists in 2013. Looking to help Spano on the offensive side will be fellow attack Nick Amendt and Zak Guenther. Amendt is a senior who was last springs leading scorer with 21 goals and 9 assists, while Guenther, a junior, added 13 goals and 9 assists in 2013.

At the end of the 2013 academic year, the men’s lacrosse team finished 2nd at AIC for team GPA. The team as a whole had a GPA over 3.0.

A favorite this spring in the Northeast-10 according to coach Sligo is LeMoyne. The LeMoyne Dolphins are the defending Division II National Champions. Coach Slingo gave us a couple teams in the Northeast-10 that could be dark-horses this spring: Saint Anselm and Franklin Pierce.
