Minutemen Picked To Finish Fourth In CAA Preseason Coaches Poll
CAA announces changes to conference tournament, reveals annual coaches poll

RICHMOND, Va. – The Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) announced its men’s lacrosse preseason coaches poll on Wednesday, with UMass picked to take fourth in 2014. The CAA Men’s Lacrosse Championship is slated to get underway Wednesday, April 30 with semifinal action and the title contest is set for Saturday, May 3.

This year the Wednesday semifinals will be played at the two highest seeds home venues and the Saturday championship game will be completed at the highest remaining seed.

Penn State was picked first with 23 points and three of the first-place nods. Towson followed closely behind in second with two votes for the top spot and 21 points overall. Drexel (18 points, one first place vote) was chosen for third while Hofstra (11) earned fifth and Delaware (5) took sixth.

UMass men’s lacrosse opens its 2014 slate at Army in West Points, N.Y. with a Saturday, Feb. 9 game slated to begin at Noon. The Minutemen host their first home game at Garber Field when Harvard visits on Saturday, Feb. 22.
