With the 2014 Major League Lacrosse Collegiate Draft taking place tonight at the US Lacrosse Convention we thought we would take a look at locals and local college players that may get drafted.
Local players that should get drafted tonight are Josh Dionne and Luke Duprey. Both play at Duke, and both are from New Hampshire. Dionne is an attackman who played at Avon Old Farms and Duprey is an LSM and defenseman who played at Phillips Andover. Other local products that may get drafted could be a couple of goalies. Conor Murphy from Colgate and Jack Murphy from Fairfield. Conor Murphy grew up in Wilmington, MA and played at the Middlesex School while Jack Murphy played at Cohasset. We also may see another Virginia SSDM get drafted in Blake Riley. Riley played at the Governors Academy just like another former Virginia SSDM in JJ Morrissey who went on to have a good career with the Boston Cannons.
There are a few local colleges who could see some off their players selected tonight as well. A couple of attackman that might get selected are Brandon Mangan from Yale, Sean Wright from Providence and Matt Gannon from Sacred Heart. At the face-off X Dylan Levings from Yale and Joe Calvello from UMass are two solid face-off men. While Peter Schwartz an offensive midfielder from Harvard as well as Quinnipiac goalie Gill Connor may get drafted tonight. Overall it should be a great weekend for lacrosse. With the US Lacrosse Convention this weekend in Philadelphia, the MLL Collegiate Draft and the start of the college lacrosse season, it just can’t get any better.
