Boston Box Lacrosse League Announces Fall Schedule

New England’s Only Men’s Box League Expands and Moves to Tuesdays

The Boston Box Lacrosse League will hold its Fall 2013 season on Tuesday nights at the South Shore Sports Center in Hingham, Mass., beginning on October 1 and running until December 17.

Aside from moving to Tuesday nights, the big news for the league is that it is expected to expand to five teams, creating an additional 20 roster spots for regional players to join the only active league in New England playing real box lacrosse in conjunction with U.S. Indoor Lacrosse.

With the addition of a new team, we’re hoping that what we have is, roughly, the 100 best box lacrosse players in the Boston area playing in one place every week,” said Randy Fraser, the league’s founder and the former assistant coach/general manager for the Boston Blazers. “If you want to learn the box game or use it to make your field game better or just compete against the best box players around – short of going to Canada – you have to play in the BBLL.”

Adding a fifth team to the existing lineup of the Blazers, MegaMen, Orphans and BullsEye, means that the fall session will run for 12 weeks, with 10 weeks of regular-season play (two games against each opponent and two bye weeks), and then two weeks of playoffs. The cost is $200 per player; team captains may charge their players an additional fee to cover the cost of jerseys.

The league schedule will be released shortly before opening night, but games will be at 9 and 10 p.m. every Tuesday.
