We have hit the mid point of our ONELL season schedule. Each summer we have eight regular season games and then playoffs if we qualify. So far through four games we are 4-0. I have been playing with the Greenheads over 30 team for the past eight summers and this is by far our best start. In the early days of the Greenheads we qualified for the playoffs in three of our first four seasons. We haven’t qualified for the playoffs in the last three seasons. If we can keep up the way we have played through the first four games we should qualify for the 2013 playoffs.
This summer’s team has a good balance of young guys and veteran’s. Our attack has been very formidable this summer, they have done most of our scoring. We have gotten solid contributions out of our midfield, and have had great fogo play all summer long. The defense in front of our goalie has been solid. Our goalies have only allowed 12 goals through four games. We also play very unselfish lacrosse, we are always looking to move the ball and find the open guy. In this league depth sometimes is an issue. The past two summers we would have twelve guys show up for an away game and we would lose by one goal. This summer we have had good numbers and with those good numbers we have been able to dictate play. With a deep bench we have been able to push tempo which has helped us build leads and wear the other teams out.
With four games remaining in this summer’s schedule we are hoping to continue our winning ways. Hopefully next time I write about the Greenheads, I will be talking about our chances in the 2013 ONELL playoffs.
