Johnson & Wales Names Nick Coppola First-Ever Head Coach

Providence, R.I. – Johnson & Wales University has named Nick Coppola as head men’s lacrosse coach, announced by Mel Graf, Associate Dean and Executive Director of Athletics. Coppola is the first men’s lacrosse coach in the history of the JWU Wildcat program. The team will play their inaugural season in the spring of 2014 and become the school’s 20th varsity program.

“We are really excited to have Nick on board to launch our first varsity season,” said Graf. “He comes to us with great experience, energy and enthusiasm. I know he’ll do a great job recruiting and establishing a championship tradition in Wildcat lacrosse.”

“I would like to thank Ms. Graf and the search committee for giving me the opportunity to lead the Johnson & Wales Men’s Lacrosse program.” Coppola said. “It is clear by the improvements to facilities and expansion of athletic programs that JWU is dedicated to the growth of its students through intercollegiate athletics and I am eager to join the Department at such an exciting time.”

Coppola comes to JWU after spending the past two seasons as the top assistant coach at Manhattanville. He also served as an assistant coach at Colgate and his Alma Mater, Western New England University. Coppola graduated from Western New England in 2008.
