Yale Atop Final Poll; Win 2013 NEILA Championship

Fairfield, CT – The Yale Bulldogs finish the season atop the NEILA poll after completing their unde- feated NEILA season Saturday afternoon with a 11-10 win over Harvard. The Bulldogs finished the season with a 6-0 NEILA record and are this season’s Dent Winners (Champion of the NEILA).

Yale comes in at number one for the eighth straight week after beating NEILA/Ivy League rival Harvard to complete their 6-0 NEILA season. Yale is the second seed and will host Penn in the upcoming Ivy

Fairfield ends the season at number two despite falling to Ohio State, 14-8, on Saturday afternoon. The stags are the four seed in the upcoming ECAC Tourna- ment and will face the top seeded Denver Pioneers on Thursday. FU won a 10-9 overtime thriller over Denver last Saturday.

The Brown Bears finish the season in the three spot after defeating NEILA foe Bryant, 8-7, on April 23rd and then beating Dartmouth, 8-7 in a triple overtime thriller on Saturday. The Bears finish their season with an overall record of 8-6 and an Ivy record of 2-4. Brown ends the season in fifth place in the Ivy League, finishing a game back of fourth place.

UMass ends their season in the four spot with a final record of 7-7. The Minute- men started the season as NEILA pre-season favorites and were number 1 for the first three weeks. As the four seed in the upcoming CAA Tournament, UMass plays top seeded Penn State on Wednesday.

Harvard finishes the season at number five after losing their final game of the season to the NEILA champs on Saturday. The Crimsons finish their season with an overall record of 6-8 and 2-4 record in the Ivy.

Providence comes in at sixth for the second straight week despite dropping their final game of the season, 19-11 to Villanova. Providence finished the season at .500 with an overall record of 8-8.

The Bryant Bulldogs come in at number seven after winning their first Northeast Conference Regular Season Championship on Saturday. Bryant defeated Sacred Heart 12-7 on Saturday to clinch their first NEC regular season championship. Bryant will now host Sacred Heart on Thursday in the semi-finals of the NEC Tournament. The Bulldogs won the 2012 NEC Tournament Championship.

The Holy Cross Crusaders round out the final poll of the season in the 8th spot. Holy Cross won their final game of the season, an 11-10 triumph over NEILA rival Dartmouth. The Crusaders finish their season with a 7-8 record.

Brown’s Brendan Caputo, Fr. Midfielder, 6-5/210, Westbury, NY

Freshman midfielder Brendan Caputo claims the final NEILA Player of the Week award after scoring two game-winning goals for the Bears this week. Caputo first scored with 37 seconds left in regulation in a 8-7 win over Bryant and then scored in triple overtime to defeat Dartmouth, 8-7.
