This afternoon in Milton, MA on the campus of Curry College, lacrosse fans will get to see a matchup of two undefeated teams. The Curry College Colonels are hosting the Salem State University Vikings. The Colonels come in at 5-0 while the Vikings are 3-0 on the season thus far.

Curry is coming in with five wins on the season, which is half of the win total from last season. The Colonels are lead by first year coach Tim Murphy. Curry has defeated two of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference favorites so far this season. They defeated Mt. Ida in overtime and defeated Norwich by two goals. The Colonels started the season with a win over Mitchell College who has a wining record in 2013. Leading the charge for the Colonels is sophomore attackman John Castellano and senior midfielder Joseph Natale. Castellano has 13 goals and 8 assists while Natale has 12 goals and 5 assists in 2013. Natale also has 5 man-up goals on the young season. In between the pipes for the past two Curry College wins were freshman goalie Tim McNair.

Salem State is off a great start. They are one win away from matching 2012’s win total of four. The Vikings had a solid road win against St. Joseph’s, and a great OT win against Mt. Ida. The win against Mt. Ida avenged last years 6-7 loss to the Mustangs. Then this past Monday the Vikings erased last years 3-18 loss to Gordon by defeating them 13-8. The offense has seemed to gel thus far this year and they are getting good goalie play from Dylan Svenson. Offensively the Vikings are led by freshman attackman Ben Melaugh and junior attackman AJ Robertson. Melaugh has 9 goals and 5 assists while Robertson has 9 goals and 3 assists n 2013. They are also getting solid senior leadership from midfielder Kyle Dolan. Dolan has won 60 % of his face-offs while contributing 4 goals and 1 assist in 2013.

The Colonels and the Vikings have faced each other four times. The Vikings won the first two contests in 2008 and 2010, while the Colonels have won the last contests in 2011 and 2012. It will be interesting to see who wins game five of this rivalry between Curry College and Salem State, and continues to be undefeated on the 2013 season.
