Bobcats Take On Catamounts
The nationally-ranked No. 20 Quinnipiac University men’s lacrosse team (2-0, 0-0 NEC) will look to remain unbeaten when the Bobcats head to Severna Park, Md. on Friday, March 8, 2013 for a neutral site affair with the University of Vermont (1-4, 0-0 AE). Faceoff is set for 7:45 PM at Severna Park High School.
All-Time Against Vermont
Quinnipiac mustered a 9-8 win back in 2002, but have not been able to defeat Vermont since. The Bobcats are just 1-5 in six meetings with the Catamounts – which features four, one-goal losses for the Q.
Last Time Against Vermont
Tucker Prudden and Mike Stottler each registered four points in the game, but the Bobcats fell in their 2007 season-opener to Vermont, 15-8, at the QU Lacrosse Turf in Hamden. Prudden finished with two goals and two assists and Stottler added four goals in the losing effort. Roger Fish made five saves, but the Bobcats were outmatched by the balanced attack of the Catamounts.
Scouting the Catamounts
A tough non-conference schedule has the Catamounts off to a 1-4 start through five games of the 2013 season. Two of the four losses have to come to ranked opponents, No. 10 Colgate and most recently No. 10 Virginia. The Cavaliers tallied two goals in the final 4:14 of the fourth quarter to edge Vermont, 12-10, in non-conference action on Tuesday. Tim Yager led the Catamounts with four goals, while Drew Philie and Graham Horvath each chipped in two apiece. Philie leads the team in points (9 goals and 2 assists) with Horvath leading the team in goals scored (10).
