Bowdoin College Polar Bears
The Bowdoin College Polar Bears finished the 2012 season with a 14-6 record, losing in the NESCAC Championship to Tufts in double overtime, 9-8. They did qualify for the Division III NCAA tournament, but lost in the 2nd round to Union. And last spring marked the final year for Tom McCabe as head coach of the Polar Bears. Leading the Bowdoin College lacrosse team this spring is Jason Archbell. Archbell was most recently an assistant coach at the University of Pennsylvania. According to Coach Archbell, the goal of the Polar Bears this season is to compete week-in and week-out in arguably the best conference top to bottom in the country.
Leading the Bowdoin College Polar Bears on the field this spring are Billy Bergner, Maxwell Rosner, Dylan Hannes and Ben Brewster.
Billy Bergner is a senior attackman. Bergner had 21 goals and 21 assists in 2012.
Maxwell Rosner is a senior defenseman and a captain this year. He had 32 groundballs and 16 caused turnovers last spring.
Dylan Hannes is a junior defenseman. Hannes had 1 assist, 28 groundballs and 22 caused turnovers in 2012.
Ben Brewster is a junior long stick midfielder. Brewster had 20 groundballs and 4 caused turnovers last spring.
It looks like defense will lead the Polar Bears in 2013; they return 2nd team All-NESCAC goalie Chris Williamson as well.
In the NESCAC, the favorite are the three-time defending champions Tufts University Jumbos. According to Coach Archbell, a dark-horse in the NESCAC this spring could be Colby College. The Mules return a lot of offensive power, and have one of the top players in the conference with Ian Deveau.
