Regis College Pride
The Regis College Pride finished the 2012 season at 4-11. According to Head Coach Josh Blumenthal, the Pride’s objectives for 2013 are to improve on both their head-to-head goal differential against their opponents, and to make an immediate impact in the NECC and in their continued upward trend in the Pilgrim League. Coach Blumenthal is in his 2nd season as the head coach at Regis College. The Pride are taking a trip to the Southwest to face Southwestern University and the University of Dallas early in the season.
Leading the Pride in 2013 will be Chris Campbell. Campbell is a junior midfielder. In 2012, he had 15 goals and 4 assists. Campbell is also one of the captains for this spring’s squad.
The Pride are also looking to three talented freshmen to help out on the offensive side of the ball this spring: Andrew O’Reilly, Nicky Rodrigo and Zach Goodsell.
O’Reilly is an attackman who played high school lacrosse for Bishop Guertin. Bishop Guertin were the 2012 New Hampshire state champions.
Rodrigo is an attackman from Florida. He played at Christopher Columbus High School, where he was the Miami Herald boys’ lacrosse player of the year and a 1st team All-Dade county selection.
Goodsell is a midfielder who played at Spencerport High School in New York. He was a 2nd team All-League selection in Monroe County in 2012
This season, the Regis College Pride will play for Michael Kaplan. Kaplan was a senior teammate who died in a motorcycle accident the day before fall ball was scheduled to begin. The team has his favorite saying, “So Yeah”, embossed on the back of their shooting shirts and his initials on the front, as well as on their helmets this spring.
In the Pilgrim League, the favorite seems to be Springfield College. Coach Blumenthal says, “Springfield’s Coach Bugbee runs a great program and the SC Pride seem poised to make another title run.” A dark-horse in the Pilgrim League this spring is Babson College. Babson has a deep roster and have been in the hunt each of the last three seasons in the league, according to Coach Blumenthal. A player that NE Lax Blog will keep an eye on this spring is Alex Patinkin. Patinkin is an attackman at Babson College. He is also the former rookie of the year in the Pilgrim League.
