Massachusetts Institute of Technology Engineers
The Massachusetts Institute of Technology Engineers finished the 2012 season with a record of 7-8. The Engineers’ season ended in the Pilgrim League semi-finals when they lost to Springfield College, 12-2. Heading into 2013, the MIT Engineers look to improve on last season’s record, according to Head Coach Walter Alessi. Coach Alessi is heading into his 39th year coaching the Engineers. He continues to say that this spring’s squad will have more depth which will be helpful.
The MIT Engineers will lean heavily on Chris Rullan this season. Rullan is a senior goalkeeper, and though coming back from an injury, he is a three time captain this spring. In 2012, he had 196 saves, a .603 save percentage and an 8.53 goals-against average.
In the Pilgrim League, the favorite is Springfield College, according to Coach Alessi. Springfield is the defending champions and a top 25 team in Division III every season.
