New England Division 3 Report: Week 1

The Division 3 schedule is upon us here in New England as we head into late February…Finally!

Here is this week’s New England Division 3 Report New England Top 20. Most NESCAC teams don’t open until the March 9-10 weekend, but there has been some action in the region. Not much movement from our preseason rankings. Although Springfield and Endicott both drop with losses. This week will see some really exciting games headlined by Eastern Ct at home against #7 Stevens as well as Bates visiting Keene St. The main event will see Western New England taking on #1 in the nation Stevenson Mustangs.

1.Tufts, (0-0), Idle. Have been in action in a scrimmage play, most notably against defending Ivy Champ Yale. Next: 3/9 vs Hamilton

2.Western New England, (0-0)- Idle, Also have seen scrimmage time vs Dartmouth among others.

Next: 3/2 @ #1 in the nation Stevenson

3. Springfield, (1-1)- Got out of the gate quick with a 22-7 thrashing of Gordon, but blew a 3 goal 4th quarter lead in losing to Nazareth Attackman Ryon Lynch leads the offense with (5g, 9a).

Next: Stevens on March 2

4. Bowdoin, (0-0), Idle. Impressive in scrimmage vs Roger Williams. Attackman Pat Lawlor lost for year with ACL injury.

5. Amherst, (0-0), Idle, Next: 3/9 @ Colby

6. Middlebury, (0-0), Idle, Next: 3/10 vs Bates

7. Trinity, (0-0), Idle, Next: 3/9 @ Skidmore

8. Wesleyan, (0-0), Idle, Next: 3/10 at Williams

9. Colby, (0-0), Idle, Next: 3/9 vs Amherst

10. Hamilton, (0-0), Idle, Next: 3/9 @ Tufts

11. Conn College, (0-0), Idle, Next: 3/9 @ Bowdoin

14. Babson, (1-0), impressive win on the road against Liberty opponent Skidmore 14-9.

17. Umass Dartmouth, Idle, Word is UMD has looked strong in preseason

18. Roger Williams, (0-0), Idle, Scrimmage vs Bowdoin showed some flaws

19. Endicott, (0-1), Blasted 21-9 at Stevens. Stevens is 7th in the nation, but after last season’s swoon this is a bad loss for the Gulls. Next: 2/27 vs crosstown rival Gordon in CCC opener

20. Wheaton, (0-0), Idle, Next: 3/2 @ UNew England.

2nd Star: James Whalen- Babson: 11 saves in 14-9 win over Skidmore

1st Star: Phil Russo- Babson: Scored 4 goals in 6 shots and added 5 GB’s and 1 CT
