2013 Preview Keene State College Owls

Keene State College Owls

The Keene State College Owls finished 2012 with a 10-6 record, having advanced to the Little East tournament championship only to lose to Eastern Connecticut State 13-10. Heading into the 2013 season, the Owls are looking to reclaim the Little East title, as well as go deep in the NCAA Division III tournament. Head Coach Mark Theriault is entering his fourteenth season as the Owls’ head coach. Under his guidance, the Owls have won four Little East conference tournament championships, as well as four regular season Little East championships.

According to Coach Theriault, the following student-athletes will be looked upon to lead the Owls in 2013: Taylor Jette, Tommy Todd and Billy Ries.

Taylor Jette is a senior attackman. He finished 2012 with 46 goals and 25 assists, as well as 4 man-up goals. Jette was a 1st team All-Little East selection in 2012.

Tommy Todd is a senior defenseman. He had 32 groundballs and 19 caused turnovers in 2012. Todd was a 2nd team All-Little East selection in 2012.

Bill Ries is a senior midfielder. He finished 2012 with 2 goals, 25 groundballs and 7 caused turnovers. Ries is the top short stick defenseman for the Owls and will see time at the face-off X this season.

In the Little East, the favorite looks to be Eastern Connecticut State. Coach Theriault believes they are the favorite because they are the defending champions. A dark-horse in the Little East may be Umass-Dartmouth. Coach Theriault feels they are a dark-horse due to the recruits that Coach Mahoney is bringing in down in Dartmouth.
