Bentley Women No. 9 in Lacrosse Magazine Preseason Rankings

WALTHAM, Mass. – Lacrosse Magazine has ranked Bentley University No. 9 in its Division II women’s lacrosse preseason poll. The Falcons open their season March 11 at Rollins College in Winter Park, Fla.

Bentley posted a 13-6 record last season, tying a program record for wins set in 2000. They went 9-3 in the tough Northeast-10 conference, finishing in fourth-place and advancing to the NE-10 semifinals for the first time since 2007 after beating New Haven in the quarterfinals 9-8.

Head coach Carissa Medeiros, now in her sixth season at Bentley, has 21 players back from that squad. Medeiros will have her top-seven scorers from last season back, led by a trio of fourth-year players Cori Geiger (Agawam, Mass./Agawam), Taylor Bastien (North Kingstown, R.I./North Kingstown) and Megan Wiggins (Acton, Mass./Acton-Boxborough). Junior goalie Ally Dorman (Simsbury, Conn./Simsbury) returns after starting 17 games last year, and seniors Kelsie Tidman (Holden, Mass./Bancroft School) and Beth Maguire (Medfield, Mass./Medfield) are the most experienced members of the defense.

LIU Post (formerly C.W. Post) took the No. 1 ranking in the poll after winning the 2012 Division II national championship. Bentley plays the Pioneers April 28 to close out the regular season. Four other NE-10 teams are ranked in the poll; Adelphi (No. 2), Le Moyne (No. 5), Stonehill (No. 7) and New Haven (No. 10).
